TO SUCCEED, PROVIDE VALUE
In business, I have learned many lessons, here is one of the most important. Provide value if you want to succeed.
If people come buy a product or service from you then they expect to get some value out of it. The product or service has to work well. Quality is important when it comes to creating happy customers. If you do a good enough job then they’ll even recommend you to people they know and keep coming back for your services in the future.
Sustainable businesses are built on providing real value to their customers.
DON’T TRY TO GET RICH QUICK, THINK LONG TERM
Some people think that they can get away with just doing the bare minimum in service. They put out a poor quality product yet think that they are going to become “an overnight success”.
Don’t fall for the trap of short-term thinking. If you want to create a sustainable and profitable business you must think long-term. Be thinking five steps ahead and years down the road, have a long-term mindset.
When you start building it may seem slow at the beginning, as if it won’t go anywhere. But if you keep consistently working to improve and provide value in whatever you are trying to achieve you will eventually start to have success and it will be a lasting, durable success.
BUILD TRUST AND VALUE OVER TIME
It’s all about people and relationships. It doesn’t matter exactly what you are selling or trying to achieve, it’s going to take other people to get you there. That is why building trust, and providing real value are so important.
Build trust by keeping your promises. Don’t say that you are going to do something and then fail to do it. People have to be able to trust that when you say something it matters. Show people that they can trust you with your actions.
Actions speak louder than words
When people trust you, they will be willing to try your product or service. Make sure that it does what it says it’s going to do, and it provides them with a solution to an issue. I run a business where we sell retractable screens. Their issue is that people want to let fresh air into their homes, but they don’t want bugs coming in. Our products provide them with a durable, effective and elegant solution to that issue. Our customers keep coming back years later, give us great reviews, and tell people they know because we provide a great product with great service.
CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOOD REVIEWS ARE YOUR BEST MARKETING
In the business that I run, we focus heavily on customer satisfaction and product quality. I view my job not as “selling screens”, but as “making people happy”. It is my job to make sure to brighten someone’s day and give them something that they are going to enjoy for a long time to come. This a totally different mindset and approach than just trying to sell as many widgets as possible.
Every single customer who comes to our business is a potential promoter of our business. If we do a good job, then they will both appreciate it and go tell others about it. Those people will then come to us and the cycle continues. But only if we provide real value, a good product and great customer service.
WHO DO YOU DO BUSINESS WITH?
If you were looking to go buy a new car, how would you do it? You’d start by talking to anyone that you knew who might be able to help you buy a car. Perhaps you know a car dealer who can give you a deal.
If not, then you would look to various vehicle makes and models, comparing features, costs, and reviews. Then you would look at dealers to find which one will provide the best value to you. Reviews and trust are very important.
People do business with others that they know and trust. That is what you want to provide. Everyone who you meet should know who you are and what you do. They should be able to trust that you’ll do it well and keep your promises.
Set yourself up for long-term success by putting the work in to provide real value at whatever it is you are trying to achieve. If you have a business, make your products and services exceptional and trust-worthy.
If I were the person on the other side, how would I rate us?
Don’t fall for the short-term thinking mindset. Get rich quick schemes don’t work, or if they do, they won’t for long. Build long-term success by providing real value and building trust so that people keep coming back for more.
